Evangelist Matthaeus

Description

This sculpture radiates a calm depth and contemplative spirit. The elderly figure, cloaked in voluminous, finely-carved robes and adorned with a flowing beard, seems carved from wisdom itself. The book cradled in his arm suggests a quiet engagement with knowledge, and his distant gaze speaks volumes in silence. At his feet, a small child stands—barefoot and wide-eyed—embodying innocence and the gentle echo of future potential. The contrast between the aged stillness and youthful presence evokes a quiet, timeless connection, delicately preserved in stone.
